Carl Dunford is a graphic designer and animator based in Kuala Lumpur. He spent 7 years working in the design department at VHQ Post both in Kuala Lumpur before leading the design team in Singapore and later set up his own design and animation company N-VISAGE which he was running for a further 7 years.
He enjoys working on the creative process for visually lead projects, is capable of working independently but prefers to be part of team and recently read that writing a personal bio in the third person makes you sound more professional and impartial.

Meccanica EFX // 2013-Present // Head of Design & Animation
Meccanica was a new start up post production company primarily dealing with television commercials. Along with design and animation I was playing a supporting role to the online departments, preparing components to be used for final compositing.
N-VISAGE Design & Animation // 2007-2013 // Owner - Design and Animation Director
I always wanted to start my own design company to provide me with the platform to take on different kinds of projects other than post. At N-VISAGE my team and I managed to do just that. Animation and effects for Television Commercials, Television Programmes, Web and Events. Production work for corporate and promotional videos. Print work of all forms including a Coffee table book, several album cover designs, packaging ranging from Milk to beer. A lot of the time were were dealing directly with clients and was acting as agency, production house and everything in between. Design and design as a business are vastly different things and managing projects at that level was extremely satisfying although terribly stressful. Tragically the N-VISAGE office was robbed, everything taken and the thought of starting from scratch again was too much to bear.
VHQ Post Singapore // 2005-2007 // Head of Design & Animation
Transferring to Singapore Branch of VHQ, I was tasked with similar responsibilities but with the addition of being a lot more involved with the 3D department, as there were more projects requiring both 3D, Design and Online together. VHQ Singapore also had close links to television industry and started to design for long form projects, especially documentaries and a vast majority of their clientele were regional, so I got deal directly with people and clients from all over the world.
VHQ Post Kuala Lumpur // 2000-2005 // Junior Designer
VHQ is post production company primarily dealing with television commercials. Starting as a storyboard artist designing frames and effects, selling them to the agency and clients before preparing the components to finally composited in online suites. As "Adobe Aftereffects" started to gain traction I was encouraged to start learning the new software animating what I could, starting with smaller projects and then building up to finishing entire commercials and animated effects. The Most valuable learning experience happen during time here, not just for the introduction into Aftereffects but how projects were run and handled.
KaSUGI // 1999-2000 // Graphic Designer
Construction Company Kasugi was in need of a graphic designer to create a uniform corporate identity for itself, and a number of smaller companies that it was creating in a number of different fields, from IT to education. While originally the bulk of work revolved around things like Logo Design, Corporate Profiles, Promotional Items, it lead to creating interactive and animated presentations and pitches using "Macromedia Director" for projects such as the construction of Universities and Government Buildings.
